I Refuse To Call That Fucker By Name

Wow, i've been a complete asshole neglecting this. to anyone who checks this daily if anyone does anymore i apologize. i haven't quite been on my game lately. so to make up for it i'm actually going to try for once to get to this regularly, maybe not everyday but at least a couple times a week. tonight i've only got one thing for you and it could be that most of you already have it, but to my knowledge it's not in print anymore so if you don't i suggest you get at this immediately. up until this past week i had pretty much written off converge except for petitioning the empty sky and when forever comes crashing. i forgot how good the early stuff was and remembered how damn good jane doe is after totally writing that record off. shit i even gave no heroes and chance and it's decent. better than you fail me at least. but this one in particular i hope you enjoy and if you haven't heard it be prepared for something different. some of the tracks on this date back as far as '91, so you'll hear a sound all together new to you coming from converge that you would never expect.

Oh yeah.

As per a request by James Draft:

Prema - Pebble
http://www.mediafire.com/?3kj23uyeoyg

Looking Hazy.....

Here's two for you. First one is from the drone metal gods Earth. This is their second LP, aptly titled 2. This is some of their heaviest sounding stuff. Way before Dylan Carlson got all spaghetti western. Second is from psychedelic doom guys Acrimony. No one who likes heavy music should be without this record.

You've got my every all.

Prema came to fruition through some guidance by Rob Fish (108, Resurrection) in the mid 90s and put out two great records. This is the latter of the two from 1996.

Comin' Home

So this is going to be a short but sweet entry. A little update of two of the records i've been listening to a lot lately. And both are pretty far apart on the musical spectrum.

- Patron Saint Of Disbelief

First Up:

Artist: Vision
Album: In The Blink Of An Eye
http://www.mediafire.com/?nmxyzfg0sxj

Sorry about the crappy picture it's the only one i could find. This classic lp from New Jersey's Vision was released in 1989 and in my opinion is definitely their best release. Great youth crew hardcore in the vein of bold.

Second:

Artist: Murder By Death
Album: Red Of Tooth And Claw
http://www.mediafire.com/?idyy1ykjhmm

The 4th album by Murder By Death, Red of Tooth and Claw completely turned my opinion around about this band. After seeing them 3 or 4 times while they toured off Who will survive, and what will be left of them, since apparently when that record came out they were on every damn tour around town. My immediate first opinion of them was that they were quite boring and sounded like a 5th rate cursive. Little did i know that later in their career they would overhaul their entire sound, throw in a spaghetti western sound, and vocals reaching back from nick cave to johnny cash. this fucking record and the one before it In Bocca Al Lupo are fucking incredible. Maybe in a day or two i'll post that record as well. Just do yourself a favor, if you too also wrote off this band because of their previous releases i urge you to give them another shot. I did and it paid off.

Banshee Beach

Wow it's been a little while. I'm still a little rough about keeping up with this regularly but, today i'm going to flood you with about 4 or 5 releases of the same theme. After sleeping on the amino acids for so long and finally catching them this weekend all i've been listening to is instrumental surf rock influenced music. So get your mummy , watch out for the creature in the water , and see frankenstein hang ten ripping up those waves while we have a raging monster beach party!

-Patron Saint Of Disbelief

First and Second Up:

Artist: The Ghastly Ones
Album: A Haunting We Will Go-Go
http://www.mediafire.com/?yhzwgy9pzp8

Artist: The Ghastly Ones
Album: Target: Draculon
http://www.mediafire.com/?8dbim1rn9yd

The ghastly ones has been one of my favorite bands since about the time i was 14 or so. I bought a compilation rob zombie put out on his short lived zombie a-go-go records called halloween hootenanny featuring all spooky influenced surf rock bands. This band sounds like they should have been playing all the background music for the munsters. Completely instrumental save for a couple of lyric tracks and skits, these record will kept your beach party grooving or you halloween house parties spooky while you're doing the ghastly stomp.

Next:

Artist: Satan's Pilgrims
Album: Creature Feature
http://www.mediafire.com/?nyvmdyz1lbw

Another groovy time can be had with Satan's Pilgrims hailing from portland. Haunting and spooky garage/surf rock that will make you shimmy shiver almost as much as the ghastly ones.

Here Comes Another Your Way:

Artist - The Bomboras
Album - Head Shrinkin' Fun
http://www.mediafire.com/?5izdnyxm2vm

Hailing from southern california, the bomboras will have to tearing up waves, hula hopping, kicking over kid's sand castles, pissing on nearby beachgoers, and just grooving snorkel style on the nearest patch of sand available.

Next:

Artist: Los Straitjackets
Album: Utterly Fantastic...
http://www.mediafire.com/?axrwuboxgjc

Combining the spooktacular sounds of surf rock that we've come to love with their love for lucha liebre, Los Straitjackets come in and hit you with a wicked volleyball spike to the face while putting you in a leg lock.

To End The Day:

Artist: Various
Album: Halloween Hootenanny
http://www.mediafire.com/?zvxtt0tdt29

Track List:
1. Halloween Hootenanny - Zacherele
2. Halloween (She Get So Mean) - Rob Zombie
3. The Halloween Dance - Reverend Horton Heat
4. A Fistful Of Terror - The Bomboras
5. Werewolf - Southern Culture On The Skids
6. Gravewalk - Satan's Pilgrims
7. Ribcage Mambo - Frenchy
8. I Drink Blood - Rocket From The Crypt
9. Little Demon - The Amazing Crowns
10. No Costume, No Candy - Swingin' Neckbreakers
11. 'The Munsters' Theme - Los Straitjackets
12. Sinister Purpose - Zacherie
13. Werewolves On Wheels - The Born Losers
14. Psychic Voodoo Doll - Deadbolt
15. Banshee Beach - The Ghastly Ones
16. The Creature Stole My Surfboard - Dead Elvi
17. Extrasensory Deception - David Allan/Phantom Surfers
18. Spooks Night Out - Legendary Invisible Men
19. Happy Halloween - Zacherele

Here's the one that started it all for me. This comp put out by Rob Zombie on his now defunct Zombie A-GO-GO records was the first surf rock record i'd ever purchased back when i was 14. I'll even put the tracklist up for it, but if the track that rob zombie did with the ghastly ones was what everything rob zombie after white zombie sounded like, i'd be at every show and buying every record.. Too bad he's gone mega downhill in the years.

Saturday, March 29, 2008

You ripped your feelings right across my back.

I have no idea why this is out of print, but it is. The pinnacle/seminal/wonderful/amazing/classic/epic LP from my favorite band forever, 1992s The End Of Silence. This is their masterpiece. Not to take away from any of their other releases, because I really don't think they lost anything over the years, but this is Rollins Band at their finest. Rollins vocals, Andrew Weiss's bass playing, Sim Cain's drumming, and Chris Haskett's guitar playing meld perfectly to make this the classic that is is.

As per a suggestion, here are some stand out tracks:

All of them.

Ten Minutes

Ok. I know i'm sorry, it's been over a week with no pay off. I've had a beyond busy weekend/week and haven't had a chance to really get to this so here goes a big one. I have two releases for you today and quite a big bonus. The two releases are part nostalgia, part depression and all i've been listening to for about 3 days now. And i'll warn you a head of time these two are completely and absolutely across the board from eachother.

-Patron Saint Of Disbelief

First Up:

Artist: The Get Up Kids
Album: Something To Write Home About
http://www.mediafire.com/?zl91vx211gm

My second favorite get up kids record. I already assume that most of you have this but if you don't you definitely need it. stand out tracks include ten minutes, action and action, i'll catch you, and holiday. You should also download their first record four minute mile.

Second Up:

Artist: Dystopia
Album: Human=Garbage
http://www.mediafire.com/?5pyzynzku4j

Possibly the most depressing piece of music i've ever heard, Dystopia's Human=Garbage is the heaviest record that I myself have posted on here to date. So prepare for heavy sonic annihilation with the drowning lows ands screeching highs of this album.

and your big bonus:

Artist: The Cure
Album: Join The Dots: B-sides and Rarities
Part 1: http://www.sendspace.com/file/lxhll1
Part 2:http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SDCBI9E8

Here it is, a 70 track b-sides cure 4 disc boxset. This sucker clocks in at 4 gigs worth of music. but also contains one of my favorite cure songs, exploding boy, which actually was covered by alkaline trio early on in their career and also burn, the track the cure did for the crow soundtrack. This is going to be in two files due to how big it is.

I Will Die Screaming

Hey! so i've been lazy and haven't updated but here i am, back again. I've got to quite different releases for you today.

-Patron Saint Of Disbelief

First Up:

Artist: AFI
Album: None
http://www.sendspace.com/file/pgxvxa

This folder contains to my knowledge all of afi's 7 inch tracks, record covers (not featured on american releases), and compilation tracks. Some of afi's best songs are contained in the folder, just ignore the shitty offspring cover of total immortal. I forgot to delete it.

Last For Today:

Artist: Fallout
Album: S/T
http://www.sendspace.com/file/wwmgv1

Pre-type o negative, hell even pre-carnivore this brooklyn band featuring peter steele and josh silver. Definitely different and interesting, not even all that good. But if you are a fan of either type o negative or carnivore, this is something you need to hear.

Splitsville.

Two of my favorite splits for you here today.
-twrex

First Is a split release by two bands I've already posted stuff for. Iceburn/Engine Kid split 1994. Great record. Classic genre bending tracks from both bands.

http://www.mediafire.com/?x2ednmy9wov

Second is the 1997 split from super-heavy-ultra-pounding sludge outfits Noothgrush, and Japan's Corrupted. Heavy doesn't really even do this record justice. Listen and you'll know what I mean.

All The Old Pictures Are Down From The Walls..

Finally I'm at it again. Today I've got two OOP releases for you. Really good stuff here.Btw i also collect records and shirt from both these bands, so if anyone has any they want to sell or trade, let me know.

-Patron Saint Of Disbelief

First Up:
Photobucket

Artist: Ruination
Album: Year One
http://www.mediafire.com/?gjwmbjzoejz

Pre cursed Chris Colohan had a lot of bands. Ruination was by far my favorite. Raw, dirty punk/hardcore in a perfect form. These recordings are so pissed off even your mom will put her fist through the wall and cause abortions stomping across the room looking for the next pile on. This is their complete discography featuring the Let The Motherfucker Burn 10", Dead Horse EP, their split with They Live, and a full live set that is full of chris colohan banter hilariousness between songs. Stand out songs are Intro/Burnout, Home Sweet Home, Giblets, Hero/Suspect, Note To Self, and be sure to listen to chris's moving story of his his undescended testicle in the live set. The track is titled Chris Testifies.

Second Up:

Artist: Horror Show
Album: Our Design

http://www.mediafire.com/?jyvxddyy0mz

Philly's Horror Show stormed the scene in the early 2000's, bringing a raw heartwrenching tone to the scene. part american nightmare, part panic, and part something completely new; this band owned that town. This release was their first on deathwish records originally a 4 song 7", later released as an MCD which also included their demo. This is the mcd version. Stand out tracks are Stuck Again, Stay Gold, The Last Steel Mile, and Inconsiderate Me.

Wednesday, March 5, 2008

Patience pays off.

This is one in the "good things come to those who wait" category.
-twrex

Recorded in 1994, but not released until 2004 by No Idea, Floor's Lp, Dove is in my opinion, their best work. Tuned down, super heavy stoner/sludge/doom beats your head against the wall for you for its almost 1 hour duration. The bonus track on the CD (the last track I Remember Nothing) clocks in at 16 minutes, and leaves you wondering, "why did this take so long to come out?"

Floor - Dove

I'll Be Fine Without These Bones

So for today I figured I'd change it a up a bit and go for some different stuff. Hope you enjoy and if you don't, oh well. I initially said this was going to cover many genres. So it's time to spill into another one. Pop Punk. so first I'm starting with something super rare and unreleased. Oh and please leave comments on the stuff you enjoy when you download it. We here at Planet Frankenstein are really looking for feedback and want to hear what you have to say and any requests you have!

-Patron Saint Of Disbelief

First up:

Artist: Chris Conley (Saves The Day)
Album: Lisa's Birthday Tape
http://www.mediafire.com/?d3vjzn1bf0z

These recordings come from a birthday tape Chris recorded for an employee of Saves The Day's former Label, Equal Vision Records.

Track List:
- Sweeter For The Betrayal
- Dance In The Glare Of Headlights
- Just Walk Him Out There And Shoot Him
- Dreams From Cannibal Island
- Save Only Darkness

Next Up:

Artist: The Movielife
Album: This Time Next Year
http://www.mediafire.com/?fjen02zz2db

Making their stay in long island, the movielife formed in 1997 and broke up in 2001. definitely an amazing band, this record was their first full length that debuted on Revelation Records.

Track List:
1. I Hope You Die Soon
2. 10 Seconds Too Late
3. This Time Next Year
4. Once in a Row
5. Self-Destruct
6. Deal With It
7. Single White Female
8. Pinky Swear
9. How Can You Even Face Me?
10. Me and You vs. Them
11. Another Friend
12. It's Monday and Raining

Last For Today:

Artist: Samiam
Album: Astray
http://www.mediafire.com/?1dbfgf5ty2m

Track List:
1. "Sunshine"
2. "Wisconsin"
3. "Super Brava"
4. "Mud Hill"
5. "Paraffin"
6. "Calloused"
7. "Mexico"
8. "Dull"
9. "Curbside"
10. "Bird Bath"
11. "How Long"
12. "Why Do We"

Samiam formed in 1988 in california. Released a handful of albums and to my knowledge, never actually broke up but kinda just went on hiatus. Their last release came out in 2006 "Whatever's Got You Down" and most recently played the Hot Water Music Reunion in gainesville. This album "Astray" came out in 2000 and is definitely my favorite release of their's.

Oh what the Hell, Why Not Another:

Artist: Jawbreaker
Album: 24 Hour Revenge Therapy
http://www.mediafire.com/?anizk0mzhhm

Track List:
1. The Boat Dreams From the Hill
2. Indictment
3. Boxcar
4. Outpatient
5. Ashtray Monument
6. Condition Oakland
7. Ache
8. Do You Still Hate Me?
9. West Bay Invitational
10. Jinx Removing
11. In Sadding Around

This album saw it's release in 1994 and right near the end of Jawbreaker's short career. Heralded as Jawbreaker's crowning achievement, this album moved a bit away from the sound of their previous albums. Definitely their best album in my opinion. Stand out tracks go to The Boat Dreams From The Hill, Boxcar, and Do You Still Hate Me?.

1991 was a good year..

I've got two for you here today. Since I seem to be stuck on 91 lately, I'll start with 411's LP, This Isn't Me.
-twrex

Released on Workshed records, this, the band's only LP, was a great piece of melodic hardcore. Featuring Dan O'Mahony (No For An Answer, Speak 714, Carry Nation, John Henry Holiday) on vocals, Mario Rubalcaba (Rocket From The Crypt and skateboarding legend) on drums, and Kevin Murphy (Farside).

411 - This Isn't Me

http://www.mediafire.com/?kx1bdfnd3dm

In 1984 Black Flag put out an LP titled Family Man. The A side featured some Henry Rollins spoken word, while the B side contained four mainly instrumental tracks except for Armageddon Man. The B side is amazing, featuring a Black Flag line-up coming into it's own, feeling their way into the almost free-jazz style that they showed on The Process Of Wedding Out. The A side on the other hand, showcases some of Hank's more juvenile attempts at beat poetry. They come off as a struggling attempt at intellectualism, something that comes from him quite easily later in his career. The lyrics to the aforementioned song however make up for his lackluster performances on the other side of the record.

I Dare You

So today's entry will be short, sweet, and a little different. I'm lazy today so i've only got two for you

-Patron Saint Of Disbelief

First Up:

Artist:Bauhaus
Album: 1979-1983 Double Lp
http://www.sendspace.com/file/tk6y0t

This is pretty much the hits collection spanning Bauhaus' career before breaking up. 31 tracks in all and pretty much all the essential bauhaus you need.. though the actual albums themselves are incredible so i suggest not missing out on the songs that aren't in this collection as well.

Last For The Day:

Artist: Tones On Tail
Album: Everything!

http://www.sendspace.com/file/3jdjug

This is the Discography of Tones On Tail, Daniel ash and kevin haskins project after bauhaus.. you might not think you know them but if you listen to the first track on this discog and i guarantee you'll remember it.. grade a collection right here.

Short and sweet.

I've got two in the short and sweet category today. The first Iceburn EP, and Into Another's EP, aptly titled, Creepy Eepy.
-twrex

One of my top 10 favorite bands, this is the first incarnation of the band Iceburn. After changing their name from Insight, Iceburn released this EP on Victory records in 1991. The two songs on here (Burn and Fall) were later rerecorded for thier Firon LP (which is inexplicably missing from the Victory catalog, along with a few other choice releases) and I'll probably post that up here in due time. Iceburn's raw mix of hardcore/sludge/avant-jazz is showcases in it's earliest form here.

"Defined: Iceburn - perhaps the most amazing band in the universe. In a sentence: Iceburn is the most punk band who doesn't play anything resembling punk music. Iceburn." Aiding and Abetting Fanzine

http://www.mediafire.com/?nnekjzoejj4

Into Another turned a lot of heads with their self titled debut in 1991. With Richie Birkenhead of Underdog, Tony Bono from Whiplash, and Drew Thomas from Bold, people had expectations. To probably everyone's surprise, none of them were met. With their prog-rock alt-core sound, Into Another broke out of their hardcore past and into another (pun intended) phase of their careers. In 1992 they released their second album, Creepy Eepy. Four songs that cover a wide range of sounds, but stay one coherent piece throughout. Something Into Another was very, very good at.

GET BENT

Ok so, i've got some good ones for this post. Usually i won't immediately post multiple releases from one band but this first one is necessary since it's not available anymore and it fucking kills.

First Up:

Artist: Sabertooth Zombie
Album: The Only Good Politician Is A Dead Politician
http://www.mediafire.com/?n1ygzdinzcz

Track List:
1. Fragments
2. Eat and Shit
3. Mind Fuck Infection
4. Gent Bent
5. Giant
6. Out

If i'm not mistaken this was sabertooth zombie's first release and was a cd-r. They later re-recorded a handful of these songs for other records, but the first song fragments in it's original version has the sickest bass intro ever.

Second Up:

Artist:Wake Up Call
Album: One Eye Open

http://www.mediafire.com/?2ogzvznxzot

Track List:
1 Friends/Foes
2 Losing It
3 One Eye Open
4 Under Their Control
5 Outro (Wake Up)
6 Avoiding The Storm
7 Intro/About To Be Bought
8 Know Your Limits
9 Who The Fuck
10 Big Shots
11 It Ain't Worth It

Wake up call hailing from maine contains members of outbreak. They play a damn good live show and this record rips. Contains the one eye open 7" and their demo.

Last Up:

Artist: Public Enemy
Album: Fear Of A Black Planet
http://www.sendspace.com/file/5e2rpj

Track List:
1. Contract On The World Love Jam (Instrumental
2. Brothers Gonna Work It Out

4. Incident At 66.6 FM (instrumental)
5. Welcome To The Terrordome
6. Meet The G That Killed Me
7. Pollywanacraka
8. Anti-Nigger Machine
9. Burn Hollywood Burn

17. B Side Wins Again
18. War At 33 1/3
19. Final Count Of The Collision Between Us And The Damned (Instrumental)
20. Fight The Power

Public enemy's first record. Definitely a fucking hip hop classic and great to jam out when you're driving around town. Stand out tracks are burn hollywood burn and welcom to the terrordome.

ps.. the bonus download

Artist: Eyeballz
Album: Days In Hell, Nights In California

Track List:
1. M Is For Us
2. Suffocated By The Horizon
3. 01.01.03

7. A Debate With Sterile Walls And Halogen
8. Straight Up!

http://www.mediafire.com/?gz3kwjo2dui

California Hardcore screamo supergroup. Band went on to form most of the bay area's current bands if i'm not mistaken including ceremony, tiger uppercut, sabertooth zombie, and life long tragedy.

One Foot In The Grave

Hey all it's me itsxalive again. Good old twrex is helping out and adding some stellar stuff i might add to keep this thing up and running on a daily basis. so it looks like you'll be getting even more releases everyday and faster, and like him i also take requests. If I don't have it i'll do my best to obtain it. So on to today's entry.

First up:

Artist: Sabertooth Zombie
Album: Midnight Venom
http://www.mediafire.com/?9x3tbgmx1m4

Track List:
1 D.O.A.
2 Shoes
3 Decayed Decade
4 Flee Creep And Cheat
5 Automatic Minds
6 Fragments
7 The Gallows
8 Black Of Mouth
9 Interlude
10 Rotten
11 I'm Fucking Disgusted
12 Self Mouth
13 Seven Swords
14 Get Bent
15 Live In Hell Rot In Dirt
16 Lady Death
17 Giant
18 Rat Bones

Hailing from California this band rarely gets the credit they deserve. They deliver fast pissed off hardcore at maximum output. This was their last release with their most recent being the dance/the prisoner 10". Catch them on tour this spring with Ceremony and Life Long Tragedy and buy shit from them.

Next Up:

Artist: Hour Of The Wolf
Album: Power Of The Wolf
http://www.mediafire.com/?byxnngmvzdu

Track List:

1 Eat You Alive
2 Spit It Right Back
3 Black Blood Transfusion
4 Deaths Coming
5 Turn On You
6 Wild Man
7 You're Through
8 Burn It

The first release from this arizona based band is a cross between good riddance, afi, and danzig. A rocking punk hardcore record with a pissed off anti-religious edge and some really grooving guitar hooks.

Last Up:

Track List:

1 The Bridge
